Tune in this Friday, October 17 at 10:40 a.m. to hear our live broadcast of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. Wynton Marsalis’s blues-infused Violin Concerto comes to life with Giuseppe Gibboni and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 9 brims with sardonic wit and jubilant energy, defying Soviet expectations.

Sunday at 6 p.m. on "The Soundtrack" Haley Taylor uncovers the mysterious and mesmerizing world of KPM, the legendary British music library whose green-sleeved records quietly shaped the soundscape of TV, film, hip-hop, and more.
Originally created for editors and producers—not the public—KPM's "library music" fueled everything from "Sesame Street" and "The Benny Hill Show" to "SpongeBob SquarePants" and cult films. But the real magic lies in the grooves: psych, soul, orchestral, and experimental cues that rival anything on commercial albums.
Haley shares how she stumbled into this world through an internet hoax involving the mysterious “Plus Crier,” digs into behind-the-scenes stories of KPM composers, and traces the legacy of these forgotten tracks through hip-hop samples and nostalgic crate-digging. From Basil Kirchin to Karl Jenkins to Johnny Pearson, this episode celebrates the hidden geniuses of production music—and invites you to go digging for your next musical obsession.

Johann Sebastian Bach’s “The Well-Tempered Clavier” a two-volume collection of 24 preludes and fugues in every major and minor key, is a foundational work in classical music, demonstrating a revolutionary tuning system for keyboard instruments. 90.9 WRCJ's Haley Taylor talks with pianist Christopher O’Riley about his newly-released recording of Book II, where he explores the Japanese concept of Ma—’the space between’—to uncover new expressive possibilities through the silence between the notes.
