NEW TECHNO RELEASE TODAY!!!
Closing out the year's techno series, Ireland's Reosc brings a sound forged in Detroit tradition and a mission to bridge two cities. When this Dublin producer made the pilgrimage to the Motor City, he didn't just visit—he built lasting connections. Part of the Soiree Records family alongside Drivetrain (last month's contributor to this series), REOSC found his place in Detroit's extended community through genuine love for the music, the machines, and the history.
But REOSC didn't just absorb the sound—he became an ambassador. Through his Dub_Troit brand, he's brought the Motor City directly to Dublin, hosting debut Irish performances for Drivetrain, Moses, and Mr 7 Inches from 313.fm. His monthly Dubtroit radio show keeps that 313 spirit alive across the Atlantic, creating a genuine cultural exchange between two cities united by four-on-the-floor.
REOSC's journey started young—classical piano training at the Royal Irish Academy of Music from age six, then running techno nights around Dublin in the early 2000s. He studied the greats: Jeff Mills, Dave Clarke, Ben Sims. He learned turntablism in the tradition of Claude Young and DJ Godfather. He even named a track "Dublin313"—not homage, but family.
This isn't someone trying to replicate Detroit techno from a distance. REOSC lives it, spreads it, and honors it through action.
His productions carry that knowledge—locked grooves, thoughtful programming, and that specific quality Detroit does better than anywhere: machine music that feels deeply human.
As Bang Tech 12's final techno statement for the year, REOSC represents exactly what this series has been about: community, authenticity, and keeping the sound alive across borders. A fitting end to twelve months of showcasing Detroit's underground and the extended family that keeps it thriving.

Bang Tech 12's eleventh installment of our 2025 series delivers pure Motor City techno from Derrick Thompson, better known as Drivetrain—a name that speaks to the mechanical soul of Detroit itself. Drivetrain's journey began in a musically inclined family, with early experiences on guitar, bass, and drums before gradually transitioning from traditional musician to electronic music producer. His older brother was a DJ in the 80s, spinning house and progressive music in clubs, inspiring Derrick to pick up where his brother left off—carrying the torch forward into three decades of uncompromising techno production.

As the founder of the long-running Detroit-based house/techno label Soiree Records International, Drivetrain has been a cornerstone of the city's underground infrastructure, not just making music but building the systems that keep the culture alive. His first introduction to techno was Kraftwerk's "Trans Europe Express," made a cult classic in Detroit by The Electrifying Mojo, a track that changed perspectives and set him on a path of translating the city's industrial heartbeat into electronic form. Working with both hardware from the tape era and modern DAWs, Drivetrain embraces technology while maintaining that hands-on approach that defines authentic Detroit techno.

Drivetrain's sets are charismatic, energetic and always unexpected—like an underground expedition that keeps the dance floor electrified. His inclusion in Bang Tech 12's monthly series represents our commitment to honoring the architects who've spent decades perfecting their craft. Drivetrain looks for music that's dynamic and expresses passion, music that is not overly produced or robotic—principles that shine through in this EP. This is techno from someone who understands that being from the Motor City, the word drivetrain is spoken of often—it's the essential power transmission system that converts raw energy into forward momentum. Like his namesake, Drivetrain's tracks are the crucial components that translate electronic impulses into kinetic force, connecting Detroit's storied past to its perpetual future through pure, unfiltered rhythm science.

Combining his love for hard, hypnotic techno and his technical approach to producing music, Bang Tech 12 artist Viswar is poised to make his name in the global techno scene.

Like many artists, he heard electronic music before experiencing it at a local rave. The impact of seeing people dancing and enjoying the music in a live environment was the catalyst for pursuing DJing and music production. While he pounds out highly energetic DJ sets, his real love is making the music.

A self-taught producer who melds computers and hardware synths, Viswar’s goal is to release his music on a larger scale and continually evolve his skills. With his understanding of the energy that comes with hearing techno in a live space, his goal is live performance, putting in play the very elements that drew him to techno in the first place.
