Jabil will eliminate 103 jobs as it closes manufacturing operations at the historic Clinton, Mass., campus that once served as the global headquarters of injection molding giant Nypro.

The layoffs will take place between September and December as Jabil consolidates production elsewhere. While manufacturing is leaving the site, NyproMold and NP Medical will remain in operation.

The closure marks the end of an era for a facility closely tied to the growth of one of the plastics industry's most influential companies.

Origin Materials spent months searching for investors and strategic partners before ultimately deciding to wind down operations.

A new SEC filing reveals that more than 40 potential investors and 15 potential partners were approached as the company worked to commercialize its all-PET bottle cap technology, which promised easier recycling by eliminating mixed plastics in beverage packaging.

Now, shareholders could receive as little as 61 cents per share through liquidation, down sharply from the company's 52-week high of $28.51.

Read how one of the packaging industry's most closely watched sustainability bets unraveled.

California’s landmark plastics law is facing a new legal challenge.

Three major environmental groups have sued CalRecycle, arguing the agency weakened regulations meant to cut single-use plastics and boost recycling under SB 54, one of the nation’s most closely watched extended producer responsibility laws.

The lawsuit could have implications far beyond California, as other states look to shape their own packaging EPR programs.

A creditors committee in the First Brands Group bankruptcy is asking a federal judge for permission to pursue claims against lender Aequum Capital, alleging the automotive supplier operated what amounted to a yearslong Ponzi scheme built on fabricated invoices, double-pledged collateral and billions of dollars in hidden obligations.

The allegations have not been proven in court, and Aequum has not yet responded in court filings.

Freepoint Eco-Systems has suspended operations at its plastics recycling facility in Hebron, Ohio, following regulatory scrutiny from the Ohio EPA and years of community complaints.

The company said the site is moving into a care-and-maintenance phase while it evaluates strategic options. The facility had previously disclosed that it failed to meet federal thresholds required to maintain its recycling classification, raising the possibility of regulation as a waste incinerator instead.

The development is likely to intensify scrutiny of chemical recycling projects across the U.S., including proposed facilities in other states.

Read more about what the shutdown means for the future of advanced recycling and plastics policy.
