Aretha Franklin performs “Something He Can Feel” in this gorgeous clip from in 1976.

No context needed. This one hits me straight to the core every time.

The late, great Queen of Soul ❤️💐.

The great MC Lyte performs “Cold Rock A Party” at the 2024 Black Music Honors. Lyte’s flow and stage presence are as on point as ever, and the live band playing that Diana Ross sampled beat? Chef’s kiss 👌

Salute to and for blessing us with this iconic, inspired performance 🫡

The legendary Chaka Khan and Rufus with a gorgeous live performance of “Sweet Thing”, from a 1975 appearance on 70s mainstay variety show The Midnight Special.

Even 50 years (!!!) later this absolute classic still slaps. It’s a true R&B standard.

Salute to the queen of funk, ms. and the iconic . They have a treasure trove of clips like this on their official YT-well worth the watch. 🔥

The incomparable Sade with an amazing, album quality performance of “Your Love Is King” from the classic 1985 Live Aid concert. I just posted a Styles Report on a few months back but it’s never too soon to renew my appreciation for the queen of sophistipop and her namesake band.

I remember back in 2011, I paid $400 for a pair of floor seats to Sade Lovers Live at Prudential. Today, $200 is just about entry level to a decent seat. But back then? An indulgent passport to R&B royalty. And worth every penny nonetheless. 🔥

Al B. Sure thrills the crowd with “Nite and Day”, the debut single and signature song from money earnin’ Mount Vernon’s own Al B. This clip comes from a 2015 performance at Chicago’s The Shrine, one of the venue’s last before shutting down in 2016.

Many thanks to for capturing and sharing with the world. Salute to , one of the original New Jack kings 🫡

A rare 1990 N.W.A interview — taped just weeks after Ice Cube left the group.

Freshly restored by Sunset_Vinyl, the footage is clean and sharp — the best this moment has ever looked.

The world’s most dangerous group sits down in Europe to talk explicit lyrics, media backlash, and where they stood in the middle of the storm.

A striking snapshot of N.W.A. right before the Ruthless/Cube fallout went nuclear.

Check out the full interview on their YT channel. It’s a fascinating piece of hip-hop history.

Erykah Badu in the New York Times newsroom performing “Didn’t Cha Know.”
A portrait of neo-soul royalty gliding through a Dilla-produced gem from the Mama’s Gun era. She makes those funky, vocally sumptuous runs look effortless.

Big thanks to for capturing this moment (as always, check out Badu’s full performance on their YT — well worth the watch).
And salute to — forever the queen. 🫡

Caught this gracious exchange between Patti LaBelle & Kelly Rowland on Friday.
Moments like this remind you why grown folks’ music still hits different — legacy, love, and icons giving each other their flowers. 💐🫡
