Bringing our own boat to Alaska was something that consumed our thoughts for the past several years. We started this year in the Florida Keys, and questioned whether we were pushing ourselves too hard to make it back up north in our first year of living in the SeaCamper.
With such a short summer window up here, we knew we’d have to make the decision and stick with the plan. We launched the boat in Skagway, AK and cruised down to Juneau—the capital of Alaska, which can only reached by boat or plane. This was our longest distance of cruising we’ve done on this boat as well as the first time our boat has been in the Pacific Ocean.
This summer was all about dipping our toes into what the Inside Passage has to offer. There was so much more we wanted to explore, but weather and timing played a big part in what we felt comfortable taking on this year.
We fell in love with Alaska the first year we came up by camper, and this trip with the boat only made us fall harder. If there was ever any question, it’s safe to say we’ll be planning to make our way back for more next summer
