Join us for an afternoon Solidarity Vigil and Asian Justice Rally on March 16 from 10am-12pm at Hart Plaza in Detroit.
In light of the recent deaths of Christina Lee, Michelle Go, and the one-year anniversary of the Atlanta shootings, we continue to mourn the lives lost yet stand in solidarity with those who have been targeted by API hate crimes and violence. In this combined vigil and API justice rally, we stand united as community members to denounce these attacks and honor the memory of those whose lives were taken.
We will be joined by special guests who will share remarks and their current work on API issues.
We will conclude the event with an open mic and a message jar activity for attendees to process their grief. Share a symbolic message of condolence with survivors, notes to those who’ve passed, or whatever thoughts community members would like to put into words. All messages may be left anonymous. We will also share resources for how you can get involved in the larger movement for racial justice.
All are welcome to bring signs to hold (no wooden handles), flowers to offer, or anything you’d like to leave on our memory table/altar to honor the victims.
For those who would like to watch from home, the event will be live streamed at Dragon Eagle YouTube channel. Please go to the link below to subscribe the channel, so you won’t miss the event.

On Jan. 30th, we celebrated our 6th annual Chinese Heritage Night with the Pistons to celebrate the Year of the Tiger and Chinese American heritage. It was a great success, and we would like to thank all the performers from Ann Arbor Jade Dance Studio, Chinese Youth YoYo Group and Chinese Academy of Kalamazoo for helping make the event a success. We would also like to thank North American Chinese Coalition–Michigan Alliance of Chinese American Organizations (includes CAGD, ACA, DEBA, DCEA, CAWM, GLCA, NACSAE, NAACEE and many more), Roberto Torres from the City of Detroit Office of Immigrant Affairs and Representative Padma Kuppa, Senator Stephanie Chang as well as Brandon Goebel and Scott Schiff of the Pistons organization, for being such great partners and supporters of our efforts throughout the years.
It is nights like this, where we strive to understand and accept the different cultures of our greater community that makes America such a great place to live and raise a family.
We started this event in 2017, to create a bridge between the Chinese community and the community at large. To celebrate and share our heritage with everyone in the Detroit Metro area and beyond. Our efforts garnered recognition by the Whitehouse through Secretary Elaine Chao for the achievement in 2020. We have also received tribute from Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, Lt Gov. Garlin Gilchrist, Senator Stephanie Chang and Rep. Padma Kuppa. We are a stronger community and nation when we understand and appreciate the cultures of all our neighbors.
Dragon Eagle TV looks forward to seeing everyone at next year’s event.
