Happy Mother’s Day, dear Mom,
It breaks my heart that you are gone.
The pain I carry feels so numb,
…A hollow beat, a broken drum…
I still grab for my phone without thinking it through,
Still reach for your voice like it’s something to do.
Then it hits like a wave, a slap to the chest —
You’re not on the other side of that text.
So many came, their love was kind,
Brief comfort in this aching mind.
Their words were sweet, the moment warm,
Then sinks the truth — this is the norm.
Mom, you’re gone — it feels surreal,
A missing piece I cannot heal.
You left so fast, yet in your eyes,
I saw the fight against goodbyes.
God whispered softly, “No more pain,”
Still you fought, you tried to stay…
As I stood beside you, trembling, near,
As you released your final tear.
I said “It’s okay”, with breaking voice,
Grateful for every single choice —
The love you gave, the joy, the light,
The way you tucked me in at night.
Now here I stand, an artist born,
Shaped by grief, by love, by thorn.
I paint my soul, I write my cries,
I wear my heart across the skies.
For roses bloom with thorn and sting,
As pain gives birth to everything.
I love you, Mama, through and through,
May God’s own arms now cradle you.
So stay close to my spirit, dance through my joy,
I’ll always be your little boy.
Happy Mother’s Day, Mama.
Always and forever,
Zayka Isya ❤️
