Hello everyone! I am a criminal defense attorney and this will be my 7th straight Electric forest. Every year I represent good well-meaning people that get charged with serious felonies for drug possession and distribution. Personally, I don't believe any substances should be illegal.

The undercover police have a process and if you follow my advice, you should remain safe.

1. The undercover police look just like any Festival goer. They'll have dreadlocks, they'll be wearing pinecone jewelry, they're meant to completely blend in.

2. NEVER give or gift anything to anyone you do not know personally. The Undercovers will walk through the campsites and sit down with you and talk with you for 20 minutes and then ask you for a bump of this or that. If you comply they give a signal and the police will arrest you on the spot. You don't need to sell, by handing something over counts as distribution.

3. The worst thing for you to give to somebody is MDMA or ecstasy. This is a 20-year felony and guidelines carry minimum jail sentences. Even one pill.

4. The police look for people that appear to be intoxicated on drugs and seek to take advantage of these people while your guard is down and think you are having a good time. Be careful and keep an eye on your friends.

5. If youre caught with drugs the police will then ask you if they can search your campsite or your RV. Never consent to this. This will always make your circumstances worse and could potentially put your friends In Harm's Way.

6. If caught keep your mouth shut don't try to explain anything or apologize. Just stay quiet and ask for a lawyer. Your festival will be over but by remaining silent you protect your future.
