After 2+ years of insanely intentional work, it feels surreal to announce our new long-term home at . It feels even more surreal to announce it with . 4,000 square of raw industrial space transformed into a home for our record label, sync & supervision company, and artist development programming. All designed by our Head of Music .

We’ve always been driven by a DIY ethos and appreciation for unconventionally inspiring studios. That approach to space reflects our approach to music— Out of necessity as much as desire, everything should be subservient to intention and feel. We hope you see and experience that when you visit us in 2026 and beyond. More info on the space and programming to come ❤️🫂

Our 2nd Annual Ass Classic golf scramble was a dream. Thanks to everyone who came out and lost balls, yelled “fore!” across the fairways, won prizes, lost prizes, etc.

A huge thanks to our friends at Yellowlight, Red Hook, Eastern Palace Club, Sylvan Crest Partners, Humans & Co., and Derek Swanson. We love you!

The Ass Classic— Year three will be even bigger and better. Stay tuned.

the journey continues. new project out today, released with the home team (hi) and the new team at . you can’t write a better script, and even if you could, the soundtrack wouldn’t be this good.

A genre-defying ode to Detroit’s musical richness. When everything in Sam’s life was falling apart, he turned inward and found the music that became The woods, vol. 1. It was his sanctuary then, and he hopes it can be yours now.

Collaborators include .mastering John Hill

Special thanks to for the heavy lifting, and to the team at Atlantic for having the humility and the vision to get back on board the journey.

DO NOT MISS THE WOODS LIVE SHOW.

Honored to have done the music for these spicy Nexplanon ads with and our friends at

Birth control ads have never shown women pursuing s*x (unsurprisingly🙄), and that needed to change. Thrilled to have been a part of adding some much needed s**t to the pharmaceutical marketing landscape 🫦🥵

Nico directed the videos for Sam’s debut ANGST EP with us back in 2017. Been beautiful to watch both their careers grow in parallel over the last 8 years. Onwards.

Last week we quietly celebrated our 10-year anniversary as Assemble Sound. We’ll probably celebrate with more noise later in the year after we finish building out our new Detroit home (!!!). In the meantime we’re just popping on here to say that we are so grateful for every artist who has ever wrote a song in one of our DIY studios, every client who has ever licensed a song from us to help us keep the lights on in said studios, every fan who has ever bought a ticket to a show, every artist partner who has entrusted us with their releases, every industry partner who has helped us make those releases increasingly impactful, every Assemble Sound team member and intern and friend that has worked behind the scenes to make this ecosystem function. Over the past decade we’ve given away hundreds of thousands of hours of free studio time, and put millions of dollars into the pockets of creatives, the majority of whom are from a place the music industry has so often overlooked. We are really proud of those contributions. We haven’t always been great, but we’ve always strived to better. We haven’t always been perfect, but we’ve always strived to grow. We started Assemble Sound with $20k and a huge dream. It took A LOT to turn those two things into a decade of meaningful work, but perhaps more than anything else, it took a community of people who cared and continue to care. That’s the same community that are going to make the next 10 years possible, and for you, we are grateful 🙏

What We Do

Listen to music from Assemble Sound Assemble Sound is an independent hub for artist development operating out of a historic 1872 church-turned-recording studio complex in Detroit, MI. We’re hip hop producers and rappers, rock bands, electronic producers, classical pianists; some of us just make google docs and take out the trash. But whatever we’re doing, we’re doing it because we believe that a more intentionally and broadly connected community of musicians sharing creative, technical, and industry knowledge is the best foundation for making great art and doing it sustainably. We don’t know if that belief is true, but we f**k with it, and from our artist residency to our sync company, it’s been the driving force behind our work since we bought our church in March 2015.
