Join Breaking Barriers for Kids & Families starting at 9 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 7, for the fourth annual Tour de Livonia, an homage to the famous Tour de France.
In a non-competitive setting, there are two courses to choose from: 18 or 7 miles. Cyclists will wind their way through the city, taking in parks, golf courses, and some of Livonia's most famous venues. Helmets are required for all participants. Proceeds will benefit Livonia Kids and Families. Register through LivoniaParks.org or visit TourdeLivonia.org for more info!
Those riding the 18-mile course will begin at 9 a.m., with the 7-mile riders starting at 9:30 a.m. Cyclists will begin from Bicentennial Park, and the ride will be police-escorted. A free t-shirt and snacks will be provided, and local vendors, raffles, and music will all be held! This program supports local food pantries, cognitive support programs, and STEM education for kids.

Former Battalion Chief Adam Walleman is walking 140 miles across Michigan to raise awareness and support families impacted by firefighter-related cancer. His walk honors fallen St. Clair Shores Firefighters Shawn Goldie and Scott Schwabe, and brings attention to the unseen hazards of the job. Both Scott and Shawn passed away from different cancers related to on-the-job exposures of carcinogens on the fire ground. This walk honors their sacrifice and sheds light on what is the leading cause of death of firefighters according to the IAFF.
