“So this wasn’t goodbye…”
Diplo brought a photo of Oliver Tree to the Burning Man Project temple, where he opened up about the nature of grief.

"We're pretty bad at death," he wrote. "We have funerals. We say some words. We put someone somewhere. Then everybody goes home and somehow you're supposed to understand what happened. I don't." He described grief as "the same as love just the other side of it," adding that it "can move you to tears at any moment."

At the temple, he left Oliver's photo beside thousands of others, where strangers learn their faces, write messages, and cry for people they never knew — before eventually letting it all burn. Diplo revealed he did the same years ago for his mother, and noted that Oliver "would've appreciated his headline set here since a part of his story started at Burning Man."
