β¨ Ingredients
For the Red Velvet Cake Layers:
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cocoa powder
1 tsp salt
2 large eggs
1 1/4 cups vegetable oil
1 cup buttermilk
1 tsp white vinegar
1 tbsp red food coloring
2 tsp vanilla extract
For the Cream Cheese Frosting:
16 oz cream cheese, softened
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
4 cups powdered sugar
2 tsp vanilla extract
For Decoration:
Red and silver edible ornaments or candy balls
Edible glitter or powdered sugar (optional)
A sparkly star for the top (edible or decorative)
β¨ Instructions
1. Bake the Red Velvet Cake Layers:
Preheat oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C). Grease and line three 8-inch round cake pans with parchment paper.
In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking soda, cocoa powder, and salt.
In another bowl, beat eggs, oil, buttermilk, vinegar, vanilla, and red food coloring until smooth.
Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
Divide the batter evenly between the three pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Let the cakes cool completely on a wire rack.
2. Make the Cream Cheese Frosting:
Beat cream cheese and butter until smooth and fluffy.
Gradually add powdered sugar and vanilla extract, mixing until creamy.
3. Assemble the Christmas Tree Cake:
Place one cake layer on a serving plate. Add a generous layer of cream cheese frosting.
Stack the next cake layer, trimming the edges slightly to create a tapered shape, like a pyramid. Repeat for the third layer.
Cover the entire cake with a crumb coat (thin frosting layer). Chill for 15 minutes.
Pipe swirls of frosting all over the cake to resemble snow, using a star-shaped piping tip.
4. Decorate the Cake:
Add red and silver edible balls to look like Christmas ornaments. Place a decorative star at the top of the cake.
Sprinkle edible glitter or powdered sugar for a snowy effect.
