🌿 ROW Spraying Update 🌿
We’d like to provide an update on this year’s right-of-way (ROW) spraying and share what we’re seeing out in the field.
Spraying operations are progressing on schedule across the county. Our team is actively targeting noxious w**ds along county and state roadways and we will continue our efforts throughout the growing season.
While it may look like w**ds are worse this year, that’s not actually the case. The growing conditions this spring—particularly the cooler temps and dry stretches—slowed down the growth of our cool-season grasses. As a result, w**ds like Leafy Spurge have grown taller and are more noticeable above the shorter grass, making them seem more abundant than usual.

👉 Reminder for Landowners:
Cost-share appointments are still available to purchase herbicides for noxious w**d control on range and pastureland in Stark County. Visit https://www.starkcountynd.gov/w**dcontrol for more information.
We appreciate your cooperation and ongoing efforts to keep our county lands healthy and productive. If you have concerns about a specific area, contact our office at 701-456-7665

Our office will be closed today, Monday, May 26th, in observance of Memorial Day.

Submit local impacts via the CMOR dashboard https://go.unl.edu/cmor

Condition Monitoring Observer Reports (CMOR) offer insights into local drought impacts that broader climate data might miss.....making them critically important. These reports contribute to the U.S. Drought Monitor map, which at the federal level, triggers drought assistance programs like the Livestock Forage Disaster Program and IRS tax provisions. State agencies also utilize this information to guide their drought response activities.
