We went back out to the high desert to track down that rattlesnake from last week... but nature had other plans. ⛈️🐍

What started as a hunt ended with an unexpected storm rolling in and blowing our plans wide open. We had to call it, but we’re not giving up on this one yet!

When you’re taking a big crew off-grid for 4 days, you’ve gotta have a real meal strategy—otherwise you’re either eating boring food or spending half your trip doing dishes in the woods. 🌲🥩

My wife and I put together a full backcountry menu for our latest group trip, and we just dropped a new video walking through everything we cooked and prepped!

A few highlights from the trip:
🔥 Day 1 Tin Foil Steak & Veggie Dinners right on the coals
🍳 Pre-cracking a dozen eggs into mason jars at home (zero broken eggs or cooler mess!)
🔪 Breaking out the butcher’s cleaver for Walking Taco night
🥪 Packing out homemade chicken salad for a day trip to Crystal Park
🧁 Homemade carrot & poppy seed muffins, yogurt, and fire-roasted s’mores with homemade marshmallows

Part 2 is officially LIVE!🥶
Freezing temps, a midnight gear failure, and a long hike out.

Where we left off in Part 1, a summer storm rolled into eastern Idaho and temperatures plummeted into the 20s. I was staring down a freezing night under a primitive lean-to shelter I built from scratch. The shelter actually held up great against the wind-but my gear ended up betraying me in the worst way possible.

In this episode, my sleeping pad completely deflates in the dead of night, leaving me with zero insulation against the frozen dirt. I break down exactly what went wrong, cook up a standard military MRE, and give a raw, honest review of the emergency bivvy bag condensation trap.
