We would love to introduce you too our girl Cleo! 😻

If you have visited our farm stand, you have probably met our girl Cleo. She decided our house was her home about a year ago and she has loved life around the homestead.

She delivers mice and all sorts of goodies to our door step!

She is loved and has a safe entrance to the garage where she has her own kitty condo.

Don’t be too surprised if she doesn’t allow you to pet her. She can be a shy girl sometimes.

When a hen lays an egg, it naturally has a protective coating called the bloom or cuticle. This coating helps seal the tiny pores in the shell and provides a natural barrier.

That’s why we sell our eggs unwashed — we want to leave that natural protection intact.

🥚 Wash before use & refrigerate after being washed.

We love keeping things as natural and simple as we can — from our hens to your table. ❤️

🥚 DID YOU KNOW EGG COLOR DOESN’T TELL YOU WHAT’S INSIDE? 🐔

Have you ever wondered why some eggs are white, brown, blue, green, or even tinted different shades?

It all comes down to the breed of the hen! 🐔

The color of an egg’s shell is determined by genetics. Different breeds naturally lay different colored eggs.

🤍 White eggs — common in breeds like Leghorns
🤎 Brown eggs — common in breeds like Rhode Island Reds
💙 Blue eggs — found in breeds like Ameraucanas
💚 Green/olive eggs — can come from certain breeds and crosses

And here’s the fun part…

The color of the shell doesn’t determine the egg’s nutritional value. A brown egg isn’t automatically healthier than a white egg, and a blue egg isn’t necessarily more nutritious than either one.

What can make a difference is what the hen eats, how she’s raised, and the freshness of the egg.

That’s one reason we love having a colorful flock at J&G Bros! 🥚🌱

🌱🐔 WE DO THINGS A LITTLE DIFFERENTLY AROUND HERE🥚

When it comes to raising our chickens and producing the food we bring to our family and our community, we’re pretty intentional about the choices we make.

We choose non-GMO feed and give our hens plenty of access to pasture and the outdoors.

Why?

Because we believe that how we raise our food matters.

🌱 NON-GMO FEED

We choose non-GMO because we want to be intentional about what goes into our chicken’s feed. While GMO feed is considered safe for animal consumption, choosing non-GMO is a personal choice we’ve made for our homestead.

🐔 PASTURE-RAISED HENS

Our chickens get to be chickens!

They have access to free range 5 acres where they can scratch, peck, forage, dust bathe, chase bugs, and enjoy the sunshine. They aren’t just sitting around waiting for their next meal — they get to spend their days doing what chickens naturally do.

And honestly, that’s the kind of life we want for them. ❤️

We believe in raising our food with intention, taking good care of our animals, and teaching our boys where their food comes from along the way.

We may do things a little differently around here — and that’s exactly how we like it. 🌱
