“There’s a person behind every product. There’s a story behind everyone who made something.” 🎨

Melissa Panszi walked into a vacant retail space at the New Rochelle train station right after COVID.

Pitched the city.
They said yes.
The rest is Rivertowns’ history.

‘Make Your Mark[et]’ started as a one stop holiday shop.

Then, it became something nobody expected:
🤝🏽 an incubator for local makers
🤝 an advocate for underrepresented artists
🤝🏽 an inclusive space in the community

“Someone came in and said — it feels so inclusive here. And I’m like, that’s what I wanted to feel.”

🎬What does a producer actually do? As a Producers Guild of America producer, here’s my take.

🎯Show up open. Your vision is about bringing their vision to life — not your own. Ask what needs to be true to make it happen, then remove every obstacle in the way. Equal parts creative and logistical.

🎧Take , one of the most heralded music producers of this era. Why? Because he knows how to bring his collaborator’s vision to life — whether that’s Paul McCartney, Dua Lipa, or Amy Winehouse. And that’s why we know his name today.

“The path isn’t linear. You’re going to hit a lot of stumbles. You have to be willing to stick it out.”

That was Kathleen Reckling’s advice when Flora asked about career mindset.

“Put joy outside the grind.”

Then, Sisyphus. Camus’s boulder rolling back down the hill. Pick it up.

Lessons I Learned from a CEO, week 4:

AI can’t replace 30 years of judgment. And 30 years of judgment can’t replace a second set of eyes. There’s a reason banking and national security both have a name for this. 👀 👀
