Allow me to Re-Introduce Myself
Who is Shoya Bowman?
She’s a Mother, a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc, and a Business Woman. She’s a woman of many talents.
She’s a writer with an Award-winning stage play under her belt entitled, Love’s Got A Hold On Me which was based off of her best selling novel, Goodbye Don’t Always Mean Gone. She’s proud to have written this stage play under the Direction of Christine Houston, writer of 227, the 80’s hit television sitcom. This play was a smash hit and has received several requests for its return.
Shoya has also written a second stage play entitled, Baby Blue that made its debut at the Atlanta Black Theatre Festival in 2015. This is a story which brings to light the raw realities of teen domestic violence. This play came about at the request of the Chicago Police Department. Shoya was hand chosen to write a play focusing on Domestic Violence Awareness that would be shared at the high schools in Chicago.
Shoya has written three books and co-authored two. She’s a former Blogger with the Six Brown Chicks, a group of women from Chicago who once brought their daily blogs which mainly dealt with relationships to life through discussions on WCIU.com. These women later found themselves on an episode of Iyanla Vanzant’s Fix My Life on OWN.
She moved from Chicago to Atlanta in 2015 to further her career in Arts & Entertainment as well as her love for writing. She since penned one novel, not yet published. She currently teaches classes on ‘How to Self Publish’ or ‘How to Produce Your Own Stage Play.’ She finds great joy in sharing her knowledge with aspiring writers and producers.
Shoya has also found a way to intertwine her love for writing with her love for beauty by launching with her very own Empowering Cosmetic Line called Dipped Lips and Tips Cosmetics. Here she encourages women to look and feel beautiful and to stay encouraged to follow your dreams.
She’s been featured on several media outlets such as Essence.com, WCIU, WVON, The Black Woman’s Expo, Rolling Out Magazine, N’Digo Newspaper, Chicago Tribune.
She’s a two time Peach Theatre Award Recipient for Literary Education and Up & Coming Playwright Award, Winner of Awards at the Atlanta Black Theatre Festival (2012) and so much more....
She’s ready in mind, body and spirit to move forward with making her own dreams continue to come to fruition. She doesn’t move until God tells her to... God spoke. The time is Now!
