Stay safe, and try to keep cool, Seminole County!

Another Heat Advisory is forecasted for today as the dangerous heat and humidity continue. Highs will reach the upper 90s with heat index values of 105-112 (locally higher). Little to no nighttime relief is expected tonight with lows in the upper 70s to low 80s.

The prolonged heat with little to no relief at night means our "HeatRisk" today is Major to Extreme. Those that don't have access to cooling or hydration or don't take frequent breaks in the A/C are at an increased risk of heat illnesses.

For more information on HeatRisk, visit https://www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/heatrisk/.

Good Afternoon!

The Donalsonville/Seminole County Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce a new event to the Harvest Festival festivities: The Harvest Festival Photo Contest! The Harvest Festival is a tribute to the agricultural community, so what better way to celebrate our County’s greatest economic asset than with photos of the ag community in action. We are looking for high quality, agriculture/harvest/crop focused photos taken in Seminole County! The winning photo will be featured on the back of the 2025 Harvest Festival t-shirt!

Contest rules:
• Photos must be agriculture/harvest/crop themed
• Photo must have been taken in Seminole County
• Photos must be good quality, high resolution photos
• When submitting entries, please include your name and photo title

The contest opens for submissions July 14th - 31st.

The Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors will select the top 15 photos that will then be posted to the Harvest Festival page for voting.

Voting will begin on Wednesday, August 6th and end on Friday, August 15th. The photo with the most likes will be the winner, and will be announced on Monday, August 18th. T-shirts will then be designed and ready for purchase in September!

I already knew this to be true . . .

This photo confirms the location of my pot of gold
at the end of the rainbow - the Donalsonville News.

If you are fortunate to have a job that you absolutely love it is true that you never really have to "work" another day.

Each day I get to tell the stories and take photos of the people who live in the place I get to call home.

I love my job, my community, and the family of friends who live here with me.

I am truly blessed and eternally grateful for it all.

Thank you for your readership and support of the Donalsonville News.
