1909 - Benjamin ALSUP's advertisement for his stud General Sheridan. $15 to insure mare with foal. I'm not sure which Ben Alsup this is, as there are several on findagrave. I think I found the post on the Denlow, MO FB page. The towns listed don't sound familiar.

Bertie Klock is known for her pie-baking and music-playing around Roy’s Store in Dora, Missouri. She’s the general store’s resident pie baker, coming in several days a week to create sweet treats for diners around the rural community.

She’s also a featured baker in “The Ozarks Pie Project Diary” cookbook, the collection of local recipes that comes out next month. In addition to recipes, I have stories and photos of some folks who are part of the story of pie and its impact. She is one of those people.

I went down to Dora tonight to surprise her. The book isn’t finished — it’s being printed this very day — but I wanted to show Bertie “her” page in the final copy before the book is public.

She, and others like her, are so important to our culture: They share traditions and talent that in turn help others make their own memories. Sometimes those moments are simply a great piece of pie, and at others it’s the moments made because of that slice of life.
