A message to the next generation of artists:

Stop jumping into collaborative projects with producers without signed split sheets.

Before you release anything, make sure your publishing, ownership percentages, and paperwork are fully in order. This isn’t just business,it’s ownership of your craft.

Too many artists are focused on waterfall releases and chasing streams, followers, and numbers while ignoring the foundation that protects their careers.

Slow down.

Take your time. Get your contracts, split sheets, publishing, and rights organized before you start worrying about building a fanbase or dropping collaborative projects.

If a record takes off and the paperwork isn’t clear, ownership disputes can end up in court. By then, you’ll be spending money on attorneys and fighting over percentages that should have been agreed upon from day one.

MMG reportedly sold Gunplay’s publishing for $50K.
They gave him $25K up front… then stalled the rest behind “album delivery.” No album, no second payment — but the paperwork still had him recouping/locked in.
And when his team thought he might catch a sentence, they amended the contract and redirected the back end he should’ve been earning.

After months of planning, sourcing, and negotiations, manufacturing for CDs & cassettes is now being finalized and the rollout strategy is locked in. This marks a major step forward for the label’s independent infrastructure — moving beyond digital-only and into collectible physical formats.

This next phase isn’t about hype — it’s about cerebral ex*****on, ownership, and building real-world assets for the artists and the brand.
