Happy Father’s Day from NBBQA, Barbecue News Magazine, and Future of Q. 🔥

Today we celebrate the dads, granddads, stepdads, father figures, mentors, coaches, pitmasters, backyard cooks, restaurant owners, and barbecue friends who help keep the fire going.

In barbecue, some of the best lessons are learned standing beside someone.

How to light the fire.
How to hold the tongs.
How to season with care.
How to wait with patience.
How to serve others before yourself.
How to gather people around a table and make them feel at home.

Those lessons become more than cooking skills. They become family memories. They become traditions. They become businesses, friendships, confidence, and community.

To every dad and mentor who has helped teach the next generation to cook, compete, serve, lead, laugh, pray, and love people well — thank you.

You are building more than meals.
You are building the future of barbecue.

NBBQA unites the barbecue world.
Barbecue News Magazine tells its stories.
Future of Q grows its future.

Together, we help barbecue grow stronger.

Drop a photo or story in the comments of a dad, granddad, mentor, or father figure who helped shape your love of barbecue.

🔥 Youth Cooking Tip:
Give young cooks one small job at a time.

That may be seasoning the meat.
Reading the temperature.
Watching the timer.
Setting the table.
Carrying supplies.
Helping clean up.
Or explaining what they learned after the cook.

Small jobs build confidence.
Confidence builds skills.
Skills build the next generation of barbecue.

This summer, invite a young cook to help — not just watch.

Save this tip for your next family cookout, team practice, backyard cook, or youth BBQ day.

Confidence grows one cook at a time.
It may start with learning grill safety, holding tongs the right way, checking temperature, seasoning meat, helping a team, or turning in that first box.
Every lesson matters.
Every mentor matters.
Every family cooking moment matters.
Future of Q exists to encourage young cooks and the families, mentors, and teams helping them learn.

One strong industry connection can lead to a new vendor, a new class, a new event, a new sponsor, a new customer, or a new idea that changes your business.
That is why NBBQA exists.
We are here to help barbecue people find each other, learn from each other, support each other, and grow stronger together.
Barbecue is built on relationships.
Save this and share it with a BBQ professional who needs to be connected.

🔥 Mission Monday: Stories Worth Telling
Confidence grows one cook at a time.
Sometimes it starts with holding the sauce brush.
Sometimes it starts with learning how to stand safely by the grill.
Sometimes it starts with a parent, grandparent, mentor, or BBQ team saying, “Come on, let’s cook together.”
That is what Future of Q is all about.
We believe the next generation of barbecue is built through family moments, safe lessons, encouragement, and giving young cooks the chance to try.
Every youth cook has a story worth telling — whether they are cooking in the backyard, walking into their first competition, helping at a family cookout, or dreaming about where barbecue might take them one day.
🔥 Young cooks.
❤️ Family moments.
🛡️ Safe lessons.
🌟 Big future.

Teach young cooks where barbecue comes from.

Teach them the regions, traditions, stories, respect, and people who helped build this craft. The future is stronger when it understands the past. Young cooks need more than recipes. They need to know the stories behind the smoke.

What BBQ tradition should never be forgotten?

Teaching young cooks about tools is part of teaching them respect for the craft.

Thermometers, tongs, gloves, cutting boards, knives, charcoal, wood, and seasonings all have a purpose. The goal is not just to hand them a tool. The goal is to teach them how to use it safely, why it matters, and when to ask for help.

What tool should every young cook learn to use safely?
