Friday night the girls swam in the Laramie Pre-Invitational where Junior Hailey Richards added a State time in the 200 IM and finished 9th of 35. Hayden Lythgoe finished 12th in the 100 freestyle out of 131 athletes. Dani Shoemake finished 27th of 167 in the 50 freestyle. Payton Yost took 6th and Kendal Engelker took 8th in the 100 butterfly!

Saturday the girls all had some amazing swims! Freshmen Riley Cook and Madison Renstrom tested themselves with the 100 Butterfly and the 500 Freestyle respectively. Hailey Richards added a qualifying time in the 500 freestyle. Jazzy Cannon was a major time dropper this weekend; slashing 30 seconds in her 100 Breast and 10 seconds in the 100 Backstroke! The 200 freestyle relay of Hayden Lythgoe, Riley Cook, Jenelle Zimmerman and Payton Yost took 12th overall in a pool of over *42* 3A and 4A relays!

The meets this weekend were enormous. All but 3 Wyoming swim teams attended. The girls held their own in a pool of over 300 athletes.

This was our last regular meet before Conference, coming off of several weeks of some major training!

The coaches couldn’t be more proud of the girls’ efforts these last weeks! We’re ready for some FUN heading into Conference and State! 🎉

Heads up...

⚠ Very high fire danger across our area today and tomorrow!

🔥 A Red Flag Warning has been issued for portions of SE Wyoming and the northern Nebraska panhandle from 11AM to 9PM today for low humidity, gusty winds, and isolated dry thunderstorms that could start new fires.

🔥 Tuesday doesn't look much better, as we'll have another round of low humidity and gusty winds. Thus, a Fire Weather Watch has been issued for 10AM to 8PM Tuesday.

🔥 Any fires that do start will spread rapidly. Please avoid outdoor burning and report any fires you see to your local fire department. Stay safe!

Goin' do it again...

17/745PM: Some of our previous Fire Weather Watches have been upgraded to Red Flag Warnings for Monday. This area across east central Wyoming and the northern Panhandle looks to stand the best chance of seeing the combination of strong winds and low humidity. To top that, dry thunderstorms are expected to develop Monday afternoon, that could lead to additional fire starts. Any fires that do start, will spread rapidly. Please avoid outdoor burning and report any fires you see to your local fire department. Stay safe!

Update 1/31/22 @ 2:35 pm:
After a thorough investigation by the Douglas Police Department, Douglas High School administration, and law enforcement outside the state of Wyoming, it has been determined that a possible threat of a school shooting that students and administrators saw on social media Sunday night was not aimed at Douglas High School in Wyoming. Instead, the threat involved out-of-state institutions. Nevertheless, Superintendent Dr. Paige Fenton Hughes would like to express her thanks to the students and parents who reported the troubling social media post so it could be immediately addressed.

It was impossible to discern from the initial post the exact nature of the threat. Therefore, out of an abundance of caution, Douglas High School went virtual on Monday, January 31. Based on the results of the investigation, in-person school will fully resume on Tuesday morning. Converse County School District #1 appreciates the close partnership with the Douglas Police Department. Douglas Police Chief Todd Byerly said he was very satisfied with the tandem response of the department and the district. According to Byerly, "things went about as well as they could have" under the circumstances. The number one priority of Converse County School District #1 is the safety of students and staff, and Fenton Hughes thanks the community and parents who are always supportive.

Original Post:
DHS will go virtual today for all students. All other schools will have in-person classes. See more information: https://bit.ly/3rfOJj9

‘If you can please reserve any comments to this post to just questions, that would be greatly appreciated. Any and all post that are not related to the situation maybe removed so that we can communicate more effectively.’
