Please take note... and do your part...
❗️With the higher-than-average air temperatures over the past weeks and in the coming week, water consumption in Douglas has increased. Even with this increase in water consumption, City staff are currently able to meet the community's water needs. This, of course, is provided that the City is able to treat water through the surface water plant consistently. At 4:30 am this morning water quality in the North Platte River deteriorated to conditions beyond what the surface water plant can effectively treat. This required the City to shut down the surface water facility for Douglas, until water quality improves. Due to that shutdown, Douglas does not have enough production capacity to meet the community's water consumption demands. Therefore, at this time, it is necessary to ask residents to support the high water conservation efforts. We will update the community when the system is no longer at risk, and we can adjust the restrictions. Thank you. ❗️
