A year ago today, South Georgia changed forever. Hurricane Helene left unprecedented damage in her wake. While some were left with minor damage, some were left with total destruction. Things they had worked their whole life for, gone in an instant. Even though hearts were breaking, our communities came together and united to make sure no one was without. From churches and businesses across the state, across the nation even, to big warehouses sending in donations, not a stone was left unturned. To the Sheriffs departments, city police, firefighters and EMT workers who weaved through fallen trees and debris to be able to reach trapped families to our local chamber directors and EMA workers who coordinated donations for our linemen and pick up spots for donationsโฆ we will never know how to say thank you enough. Hopefully, we never have to endure another Helene, but if we do I know we are South Georgia Strong. โค๏ธ
