The Douglasville Police Department is using a program called Connect Douglasville, which allows residents and businesses to voluntarily register the locations of their security cameras to assist law enforcement during investigations and emergencies.

COULD A NEW HOTEL BE COMING TO DOWNTOWN DOUGLASVILLE?

The City of Douglasville is looking for developers interested in bringing a new hotel to downtown Douglasville.

According to a current city solicitation, Douglasville is seeking qualifications and conceptual proposals from experienced developers for a potential downtown hotel project. Proposals are due September 21, 2026.

The potential hotel comes as the city continues efforts to develop and revitalize downtown, including the area surrounding the Douglasville Town Green and GreyStone Amphitheater. City plans have previously called for additional residential and retail development around the Town Green.

⚠️ It is important to note that a hotel has NOT yet been approved or announced for construction. The city is currently seeking proposals from developers interested in the project.

Today, we pause to honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001, the heroes who answered the call, and the families and communities forever changed by that day. Twenty-five years later, may we also remember the strength, compassion, and unity Americans showed one another in the days that followed.

10-Year-Old Girl Seriously Injured After Being Hit by Car

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ga. — A 10-year-old girl was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle Monday evening in Douglas County.

According to WSB-TV, Georgia State Patrol said a group of children was walking along West Stewarts Mill Road, just outside the Douglasville city limits, around 5:45 p.m. when a dog began running toward them. The children told troopers the 10-year-old ran into the roadway while trying to get away from the dog.

A 51-year-old Douglasville man driving a Nissan Murano struck the girl, according to the report.

The child, whose name has not been released, was flown to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta with serious injuries. As of WSB-TV’s Sept. 8 report, no update on her condition had been released.

TWO TEENS ARRESTED AFTER GUNFIRE NEAR DOUGLAS COUNTY YOUTH CAMPUS

Two teenagers, ages 14 and 16, were taken into custody on Monday, Aug. 31, 2026, after Douglas County deputies responded at approximately 3:15 p.m. to reports of armed juveniles near the Youth Villages Inner Harbour Campus off Dorsett Shoals Road.

According to FOX 5 Atlanta, deputies heard four to five gunshots before locating the teens with a 9mm handgun. Investigators allege the teens were also connected to three home burglaries earlier that day.

Authorities said each teen faces three counts of criminal attempt to commit murder, three counts of burglary and a firearm possession charge. No injuries were reported.

The teens’ identities have not been released because they are juveniles.

🚨Escaped Douglas County Inmate Back in Custody

A Douglas County inmate trustee who escaped Thursday morning while assigned to work at the Sheriff’s Office car wash was taken back into custody later that afternoon.

Isaac Kindle left the facility around 9:30 a.m., prompting a multi-agency search involving local and federal law enforcement.
