Reservoir just landed $10 million from John Deere .

Reservoir, a Salinas-based agricultural innovation platform, unveiled a three-year, $10 million R&D partnership with John Deere at its inaugural Ruggedize conference. The funding backs testing and commercialization of rugged AI for high-value crop agriculture. Over 20 startups have joined Reservoir Farms since spring.

🌱 A 54-year-old horticultural distributor just filed for Chapter 11.

BFG Supply and 16 affiliated entities filed for bankruptcy on August 18, listing $342.5 million in debt. The Indianapolis-based distributor has cut its workforce nearly in half amid declining sales. A $55 million loan will keep it running while it pursues a sale this fall.

CropX just made its biggest acquisition yet.

CropX Technologies acquired lab-grade crop analysis firm SCIO, marking its eighth deal since 2020 and its largest to date. The move pairs CropX's soil-sensing platform with SCIO's lab analysis to cover crop data from planting through harvest. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
