The main storm threat is over for most of our area but it looks like what’s left in our area is clear from tornado threats.

With that said, just a quick recap on what went on tonight at Borderline.

I do not claim to be a professional or degreed meteorologist. However, I am a certified storm spotter and have always loved storms, tracking them, and chasing them.

With that said, we were able to spot and call three tornado warnings on our radar software before the NWS issued the official warnings. One of which I said was a confirmed on the ground tornado per radar correlation coefficient imagery. It wasn’t until a few minutes into seeing this on radar that the warning went out.

That scares me. There were people in the path of a tornado on the ground with no warning. I called one of my friends who had a child living less than 2 miles away from where the tornado traveled before it was warned.

I’m not an expert as I said. I may not be reliable for that matter. But I do think that this is the reason you see people streaming live weather - to help save lives and give warnings.

This isn’t a dig at the NWS because they have a hard job. However, I would like to see some solution to this delayed warning issue. Maybe some of us amateurs can have some sort of direct report method to NWS where we can tip them off like they do for the spotters? I’m not sure what the solution is but we need to do better.

I hope everyone has a safe and restful night. I hope everyone is safe and had minimal damage in their areas. Thank you for viewing and supporting the page.
