**UPDATE**
Milford High School and Milford Central Academy have been declared safe by police personnel. There is no threat to our students, residents or visitors. All police personnel have cleared from the area. This is still an active investigation and further information will be released as warranted.

The Milford Police Department is currently on scene of Milford High School and Milford Central Academy for a report of a bomb threat. Both schools have been evacuated and all students are safe. Currently we along with our agency partners are working to clear the buildings to ensure that it is safe. Updates will be issued as necessary.

Please monitor Milford School District website and social media accounts for school updates.

In Loving Memory of Wilson Vinyard “Pop” Gillespie Sr.

Pop was a Life Member with over 25 years of dedicated service as a Fire Policeman. He also proudly served as Past Fire Police Captain and Past Chief Engineer. His presence, wisdom, and humor will be deeply missed around the firehouse.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this difficult time.

Full Fireman Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at 11:00 AM, with a visitation beginning at 10:00 AM at the Ellendale Fire Company, 302 Main St., Ellendale, DE 19941.
Interment will follow immediately after the service at Slaughter Neck Cemetery.

We will miss you, Pop.

Bridgeville – Suspect Sought in Chainsaw Menacing Incident
Suspect: John Gleysteen, 30, of Bridgeville
Incident: Menacing with Chainsaw
Date/Time: Tuesday, August 5, 2025 – 9:33 a.m.
Location: Handy Road near Craft Road, Bridgeville, DE
Agency: Delaware State Police – Troop 5

Summary:
Delaware State Police are seeking the public’s help locating John Gleysteen after an unusual and aggressive incident involving a DelDOT employee. Troopers responded Tuesday morning to a report that Gleysteen, operating a tractor, collided with a DelDOT tractor mowing grass, argued with the employee, and left. A short time later, he returned with a chainsaw, placed the running chainsaw near the tractor’s tire, then forcefully entered the cab, reportedly assaulted the victim, damaged property, and fled. The victim was not injured. Maryland law enforcement assets were also used in the search for the suspect

Suspect Description:
White male, approximately 5’10”, 185 pounds
Brown hair, hazel eyes
Last seen driving a silver Ford F-250 with Delaware vanity tag SUPRTUF

Status:
Arrest warrant obtained
Investigation ongoing

Update August 10th :
On August 10, 2025, Glyesteen was arrested and taken to Troop 5. He was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $67,300 cash bond.

Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony (Felony)
Aggravated Menacing (Felony)
Harassment
Offensive Touching
Criminal Mischief under $1,000 Damage Property – 2 counts
