OUT TODAY: sylvanesso 𝙊𝙬 ∞ — their first new album in four years and the first release on their own label, Psychic Hotline.

12 songs made over years of writing, revisiting, experimenting, and trusting the process. 𝙊𝙬 ∞ is a trust fall into our dystopian present, past, and future – arms wide open, embracing the pain of cities under water or on fire and piecing ourselves back together from memories, ephemera, Y2K-era burned CDs, and backseat makeouts. We’re incredibly proud to have this one out in the world.

The album’s world expands through an immersive universe of animated characters and iconography by artist Eric Timothy Carlson, while the new music video for “Sledge” by Aaron Anderson channels apocalyptic anxiety into a fierce meditation on destruction, control, and surrender.

Y’Y - Amaro Freitas ()

The new album from the acclaimed composer and pianist pays homage to the forest and the rivers of Northern Brazil with both the music and the album title (Y’Y being a word written in the Sateré Mawé dialect, an ancestral indigenous code that means water or river.)

Y’Y brings together Shabaka Hutchings, Brandee Younger, Aniel Someillan, Jeff Parker and Hamid Drake, to all contribute to Freitas’ vision of invoking the unique sounds and rituals found in Afro-Brazilian and Indigenous cultures. Further codifying his fresh, “decolonized” interpretation of Brazilian jazz, that may well shatter preconceived notions of what jazz can be.

The new song “Encantados” features , , and . On the 9 minute jazz epic, Freitas brings to life lessons he learned in the Amazon about the incandescent power of enchanted spirits who intervene on behalf of the community in times of struggle. You can listen to it now 🌳
