A Christmas Story for WVU Mountaineer Sports WVVA News WVU Football Pigskins Politics P***y
"Every Mountaineer down in Morgantown cheered,
For their football team, that year after year,
Gave them hope, gave them pride, gave them reason to shout,
But one day, a Grinch would turn it all inside-out.
This Grinch was a coach named Rich Rodriguez,
Who dazzled with schemes that wowed the arenas?
He won many games; he brought WVU fame.
And Mountaineers dreamed of a championship claim.
But up in his tower, old Rich had a plan,
A selfish idea for this footballing man.
For Michigan called, with wallets so fat,
And the Grinch thought, “Now THIS is where I’ll hang my hat!"
But before he could leave, one game was in sight.
The Backyard Brawl, under cold December night.
Beat Pitt, and the Mountaineers would march to their goal,
A national title, the sweetest of bowls.
But whispers grew louder; they filled every ear.
“Coach Rich is departing; his goodbye is near."
And when game day arrived, with tensions sky-high,
Mountaineer hearts broke—they watched hope die.
A 13 to 9 loss, so bitter, so raw,
And some fans still wonder what the Grinch really saw.
Did he call it to win? Did he play it to lose?
Was Michigan already lacing his shoes?
He packed up his bags, his schemes, and his plays.
And left Morgantown in a cloud full of haze.
But Mountaineer fans would not forget, oh no,
How Rich Rod left them in a heartbroken woe.
Years passed by, and the Grinch went his way.
But for WVU fans, the pain didn’t decay.
Then one shocking day, in a twist so profound,
The Grinch returned to Morgantown!
“What’s this?” fans cried. “Is this some cruel trick?
We gave him our hearts, and he left us so quick!"
Can a Grinch find redemption? Can hearts truly mend?
Or will he steal them all over again?
So Mountaineers gather, and let your voices be heard.
About this strange tale, that’s truly absurd.
Is Rich Rod the villain, or can he reclaim,
The love of a fan base still feeling the pain?
One thing’s for sure: in this land of gold and blue,
Being a Mountaineer means your loyalties are true.
But as for Rich Rod? Well, the story’s unclear.
