We are already in record territory for latest first hurricane of the season in the satellite era, but what about before? We are currently 4th latest since records began in 1850. There were no known hurricanes in 1907 and 1914. We likely missed a lot of storms prior to the 1960s as we primarily relied on ships for data out at sea. We still haven't seen a hurricane in the Atlantic this year and nothing that strong is on the horizon for the foreseeable future, so we will likely climb up this list.

We are now in record territory for latest first hurricane of the year since the satellite era began. On the morning of this date in 2002 and 2013, we had our first hurricanes of those seasons. This was the record for latest first hurricane of the year at the time.
