🔥🧯 Is Your Boat’s Fire Suppression System Up to Code? 🧯🔥
Safety on the water is everything, and staying compliant with USCG regulations keeps you, your family, and your vessel protected!
Under USCG guidelines, fire extinguisher and suppression requirements depend on your boat's length and setup:
🧯 Under 26 Feet: Requires 1x 5-B extinguisher (or exempt with a USCG-approved fixed suppression system).
🧯🧯 26 Feet to < 40 Feet: Requires 2x 5-B or 1x 20-B extinguisher (reduced to 1x 5-B with a fixed system).
🧯🧯🧯 40 Feet to 65 Feet: Requires 3x 5-B or 1x 20-B + 1x 5-B extinguisher (reduced to 2x 5-B or 1x 20-B with a fixed system).
⚠️ Don't Risk It: Beyond safety, an expired or non-compliant fire suppression system can result in denied insurance claims after an accident, failed inspections, or even eviction from your marina slip. Disposable extinguishers also expire 12 years from their manufacture date, and fixed automatic systems require routine inspections to stay valid.
