Can this be true? Next Monday 18th of May in the year of the Lord 2020 - shows low to mid 80's for NE PA. "Suddenly it's summer" pattern, like I talked about, coming to fruition. Will the pattern hold? Yes, no, maybe so, maybe no? Stay tuned.

05/11/2020

Monday 5/11/2020 - Mostly cloudy. Scattered showers most of the day. Cool. High between 50-55. Decreasing clouds at night and a low around 32. Relief from this cool pattern is coming, by the end of the week. Have a great Monday and may God bless each of you!

05/10/2020

Sunday 5/10/2020 - Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there today! So we didn't see any steamnadoes. Which is good I guess. But it felt like Mid February. Sunday... no. Partly sunny. Much warmer. It will still be windy/breezy. The high will be around 55-60. Clouds increase at night, with the chance of a few rain showers during the overnight and a low around 40. We have reinforcing shot of cool for Tuesday, NOTHING like this, and then we start a big moderating trend for the rest of next weekend and into the weekend. Maybe 70's! Have a great Mother's Day in what will feel like summer. May God bless each of you!

****ALERT*** For Friday Night into Saturday AM - It will be raining most of Friday. Rain will start by 1pm Friday, and rain most of the day. It will turn to snow by sunset, around 8p, and maybe at latest 10p, and will end by 2-4 am Saturday. Total Snowfall of Coating-2", locally 3" on mainly grassy and non-paved surfaces in elevated areas above 1500'. 3" possible areas closer to 2000'(Freeland, Bear Creek, highest Mountain Top).

The rest of Saturday - Rain squalls where temps are in the upper 40's and when the rain falls, the excessive cold air at 5000' (-30 to -40 degrees), will be tapped and the air temps will fall quickly to the mid 30's and the rain will change to snow and become a snow squall. Once the rain/snow squall ends - the mid may/mid august sun re-emerges, the temps will quickly rebound back to upper 40's to around 50, and then steam will come from the blacktop. There could be some interesting weather phenomena (steam-nadeo) during the day. ALL of the snow that falls will melt quickly Saturday. The coldest air, relative to normal, OVER THE ENTIRE GLOBE, will be over PA and NE US, on Saturday.

Next weekend looks to be above normal temp wise (mid to upper 70's).

04/28/2020

As I am about to take over the page on May 1st for my 6 month daily forecasting (laz is still here - he does Nov 1 to May 1) I want to share some LR thoughts.

Please enjoy the weather this weekend (Saturday and Sunday) as it will be in the 60's and near 70 on both or at least on Sunday!

Below you will see two maps. Both are from Friday MAY 8th, 2020. The first one shows a purple line that connects from the North Pole, right down into the eastern US, all the way down into FL. That is what we call "Cross Polar Flow". Now in Winter, we would expect a significant arctic outbreak of COLD. But we are not in winter, luckily. What we get in spring/summer, is modified air. The air as it moves south will warm as it does, because of the sun and latitude, and it's not moving over snowpack. So it's not as cold. However, the results are what the 2nd map shows. The 2nd map, shows a map of 52 different runs of the computer models. It shows us in the throws of a very cold period of spring weather. The average high for May 8th in NE PA is around 64 degrees. The map shows us around -15 degrees below average. So YES, we are going back to the cold weather pattern at least for a time. There could be some snow flakes around during this time. Do not be afraid. The last time we had snow flakes in May - 2014. That subsequent summer - was one of the top 5 hottest summers of all time and lasted into October. Based on climate trends... we could be heading in that same direction this year as well. But I have been horrible at predicting seasonal forecasts the last few, so take that with a grain of salt. Blessed salt.

I do believe, that once we get past May 15th, we will start to see this pattern relax, and we start to see the pattern we saw in winter, except with summer warmth (remember how warm it was in winter?). Well I believe by the first weekend in June, I believe we are in a summer like warmth weather pattern. At least that is what some of the longer term models show. Hopefully they will be right. But that is what is shows.

So do what you can to enjoy the weekend - as it's a thing of one step forward and two steps back. - pb

Radar Update - 10:40 PM. - A bit of a break in the Rain to our west, but don't be surprised if that mix to our immediate north/northwest spins down into our immediate area over the next few hours. It shouldn't create any problems for the morning commute, but Mother Nature needs to stop this nonsense already. For me to say that is telling. I think we're all ready for Spring..... ~ Laz
