my favorite trail that I hiked in The Dolomites…
Tre Cime di Lavaredo & Cadini di Miserina
📍🇮🇹 Italy
It was two hikes combined into one, first being a loop and the second being an out-n-back. Hiking all the way around the “Three Peaks” was mesmerizing:
- Cime Grande (Great)
- Cime Ovest (West)
- Cime Piccola (Little)
At Rifugio Locatelli (which was closed) we snuck up to the old war bunkers where there are perfect frames of Tre Cime (📸7) and then kept dropping elevation just to gain it back as we curved over to the next restaurant where I enjoyed a cappuccino to refuel (📸9). Flowers covered the grassy hills on our way back to the trailhead to cross the road and get to the Cadini di Miserina overlook (📸11).
Dark clouds were rolling in by mid-afternoon and we felt a few raindrops but we were lucky the clouds didn’t drop to cover the mountain tops and we stayed dry!
It was a perfect day hike, and my favorite trail to explore of the whole trip. So many other trails connected different meadows and lakes… you could spend so much more time around this area. A dreamy mountain range with nature preserved beautifully despite the traffic and accessibility 💚
