1993 Toyota Camper FOR SALE
This is the story behind it, and a few before, during, and after photos to show you what she’s been through.
How it started:
In 2021, a road trip in Josh’s grandparents van made us obsessed with the idea of living nomadically. We bought this camper knowing it had water damage and some things falling apart, but the bones were solid and the engine was strong. So we brought it home and started to tear it apart.
What we built:
Over the next two years we did all of the electrical, plumbing, fiberglass work, woodworking, flooring, all of it. We used aluminum extrusions to cut down on weight and carefully laid out a balanced floor plan. We spent late nights taping different layouts on the floor, sitting inside during rainstorms searching for the source of our leaks, and eventually tearing off the entire roof and rebuilding it from scratch and learning to fiberglass so we would never have another leak again. Josh’s dad’s lent us his tools, his advice/skills and often an extra hand which helped us through the hard parts. Also shoutout YouTube University.
Where she took us:
We left Idaho and headed to the Oregon coast, followed 101 down to the 1 and kept going. We drove the southern US all the way to Key West, bounced around the Southeast, then headed back west through the Midwest, and ended up in Victoria, BC before coming back to Idaho.
Why we’re selling:
When we made it back, we put her in storage because while we were somewhere in Florida we’d fallen in love with sailing, and decided to go all in on boat life. This camper did everything we asked of her she showed us how to live small, work remotely on the road, and figure out how we move through the world together. She’s the reason we are where we are.
Letting her go is bittersweet, but she deserves to be driven, not stored away. We hope she finds someone who’ll give her the next adventure.
