Dear Rich & Deena,

My fiancé and I have been together for close to seven years, engaged for four years, and just never got around to being married. In fact, she moved here with me a couple of years ago. Last week, we got to talking again about a wedding, but this time, we were serious and on the same page.

To make a long story short, we’ve decided to get married next month in our friend’s backyard. It is a quick wedding and it started to be small and no big deal. But every day, she’s adding something to it.

This thing is getting out of hand. She’s hired a string quartet, a band, a chocolate fountain, an open bar, a gazebo, horse drawn carriages for the wedding party, and valets to park the cars. She’s also trying to get a professional chef to cater the event if she can find one on short notice. This is becoming really expensive, and a lot more than I thought it would be. And now, my buddy says we need to find another place to have it because he didn’t sign up for it.

I tried to talk to her about it, but she says that the more she thinks about it, the more she realizes this is the biggest day of her life and wants it to be special. And, she’s laying on the guilt that, “It took you seven years to marry me, and I moved here for you. It’s the least you can do.” What do I do?

Dear Rich & Deena,

I was at a company party a few weeks ago, and was chatting with my boss. She had a little too much to drink and was making small talk. Suddenly, she leaned in and whispered, “If I was 20 years younger, you and I would be hooking up tonight.” Then she leaned back and looked at me like it was my move.

I excused myself, and got away. When we got home, I told my wife, and she insisted that I report her to HR. It didn’t bother me, nothing is going to happen, and I don’t want to make a big deal out of this. But my wife is insisting I do something about it. Shouldn’t we just let it go?
