Dear Rich & Deena,

Hey guys! I’m wondering if I’m about to be a jerk.

We’re hosting Thanksgiving this year, and my mother-in-law has offered to bring the green bean casserole. I told her that would be great because she was insistent and she’s so proud of her recipe. She insists that her son – my husband – loves it.

Here’s the thing. This is my favorite side dish and hers is, well, not good. It’s horrible.

So, I’m planning to make one, too, and we’ll just have two green bean casseroles. That’s fine, right? But I haven’t told my husband yet, and I’m afraid it will be a big problem if I tell him, but maybe a bigger problem if I don’t.

Dear Rich & Deena,

I don’t want to sound crazy here, but I need to know if my boyfriend’s gift is a sign that we’re over. We’ve been together for two years and I take gift-giving seriously. It’s a sign of caring. I take pride in the ability to get something meaningful for each other for Christmas, birthdays, anniversaries, and special occasions.

I just discovered that my boyfriend is buying me a star and naming it after me. I don’t want to sound ungrateful, but this is lame. There’s a gazillion stars and he’s basically giving me a piece of paper with numbers as coordinates that says, “Angie” on it.

This is a non-gift. My girlfriend told me it’s break-up worthy and that it’s only to fulfill an “obligation.” She says it’s not from the heart and to dump him now before it goes any further. I kind of agree with her, but is that an overreaction?

Dear Rich & Deena,

My husband and I have only one problem, and that is being intimate. I guess you can say we are only together once or, if I’m lucky, twice a month. We’ve had numerous discussions about this, but whenever I think it may be different or change, it still remains the same.

Other than this problem, our marriage is wonderful. We love each other very much. He’s very affectionate, but not in the bedroom. He once said that I’m his wife and he respects me. I don’t want respect in the bedroom. I want a little craziness! I just don’t understand.

I’ve tried everything! I never thought I would have to fight so hard with my husband. I see no excuses. Our children are grown, so we can’t say it’s the kids. I know it’s not another woman because we spend all of our free time with each other, our family, and our friends. Sometimes, I think it’s laziness, but what could it be?

Dear Rich & Deena,

I am terrible at Pickleball, mostly because I hate it and think it’s a stupid game. But my wife loves it so much that’s all she does with her free time. That’s all she talks about.

She knows I don’t love it, but I still play with her, and now she wants me to take lessons so we can enter tournaments. I told her to find a partner that is better at playing but she says she wants to spend time with me.

This is her obsession, not mine. What do I do?
