Ready to turn up the heat in your relationship? šŸ”„

In our latest episode of the My Better Half Podcast, Tosha and I dive into "The Fireplace"—the essential role of physical and sexual intimacy in marriage. We often think intimacy starts in the bedroom, but we break down why the fire actually starts much earlier in the day.

Here’s what we’re covering:
• The Science of Connection: Why non-sexual touch is the fastest way to lower cortisol (your stress hormone) and create a sense of safety.

• The 6-Second Rule: We discuss Dr. Gottman’s "minimum effective dose" for bonding. Anything less is just a greeting; six seconds is a physiological event! [06:52]

• Emotional Safety First: Why doing the "hard work" of resolving conflict is the only way to pave the road for physical closeness. [12:05]

• Spiritual Grounding: How maintaining a tight bond acts as a protective shield against the temptations and stresses of the outside world. [14:42]

This Week’s Challenge: The Six-Second Connection. Before you leave in the morning or when you reunite at the end of the day, commit to a 6-second kiss or hug. Reset your nervous system together! [15:51]

To Be, Not Simply to Appear.

In the fast-paced world of the marketplace, it’s easy to fall into the trap of "performance." We often feel the pressure to look successful, appear generous, and win the praise of our peers.

But as I shared in my latest sermon, there is a profound difference between appearing to be a leader and actually being one.

In this message, I dove into the story of Ananias and Sapphira. Their mistake wasn't the amount they gave; it was the mask they wore. They presented a fraction as if it were the whole, seeking the reputation of sacrifice without the reality of it.

In our professional lives, we face this same daily challenge: Integrity vs. Image.

I challenged myself and our community to ask:

* Are we presenting our successes as "the full amount" while hiding the shortcuts we took?

* Are we seeking the praise of peers more than the peace of a clear conscience?

* Are we more concerned with our "brand" than our actual character?

There's an old motto I love: Esse Quam Videriā€”ā€œTo be, rather than to seem.ā€

True impact in business doesn't come from the masks we wear or the credit we seek. It comes from showing up with transparency—even when things are difficult—and choosing to be people of our word. Success is much sweeter when it’s built on a foundation of truth.

Bold Faith for the Journey: Lessons from the Early Church šŸ‘£āœØ

Are you currently in transition, in transit, or navigating a "wilderness" season?
In the latest Marketplace Minister Moment, we dive into Acts Chapter 4 to uncover how the early church didn't just survive challenges—they thrived through radical unity, bold prayer, and deep community.

Whether you are deployed, exploring your faith, or simply a "Marketplace Minister" on the go, these timeless lessons offer a roadmap for staying grounded:

šŸ”„ Boldness Over Fear: After facing persecution, Peter and John didn’t retreat. They returned to their community to pray for even more courage.

šŸ¤ The Power of the "Small Group": Unity isn't just a feeling; it’s a practice. The early believers met needs by sharing what they had, ensuring no one walked alone.

šŸ™ Sovereignty in the Storm: When the world feels chaotic, the early church reminds us to acknowledge God’s hand over every circumstance.

Key takeaway for your week: The strength of the early church wasn't in their buildings, but in their shared purpose. How can we emulate that benevolence and boldness in our workplaces and neighborhoods today?

✨ Join the Moment: Take a few minutes during your commute or break to reflect, pray, and participate in a moment of communion for folks on the go.

BE the Change.
Lead by Example in the Marketplace.

A quick Marketplace Minister Minute filmed in the the shade of the Dream Tree at Holly Knoll.

Here history isn't just a memory—it’s a mandate. This is where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. penned portions of his "I Have a Dream" speech, and standing here, the weight of that vision is palpable.

But a dream without a roadmap remains a wish. To truly honor this legacy, we must move beyond inspiration and into operationalizing unity.

It is one thing to speak of a "beloved community"; it is another to build the systems, the partnerships, and the logistical backbone required to sustain it.

We are committed to taking that vision off the page and putting it into motion through large-scale, tangible community action.

The vision was written here. The work continues through us.
When we align our professional excellence with our social responsibility, we transform "The Dream" from a historical moment into a daily reality.

Let’s stop just dreaming of unity and start engineering the infrastructure to make it inevitable. Let's dare to operationalize the Vision to forge Unity in the Community.
BE the Change!

Stop waiting for the "perfect" moment to lead with your faith.

In the latest episode of Marketplace Minister Moments, we dive into a powerful truth found in Acts chapter 3. When Peter and John encountered the lame man, they didn’t offer silver or gold—they offered what they did have: a gift from God.
Marketplace Ministry isn't just a concept; it’s about engaging with the Word in the very places we work, live, and lead.

Key Takeaways from the Conversation:
See the Invisible: Peter and John modeled the importance of truly seeing those in need around us.

Inventory Your Gifts: We all have unique talents. Are you using yours to serve others or to serve yourself?

Redirect the Praise: When we use our abilities to make an impact, the glory belongs to God, not us.

Actionable Faith: God’s plan is fulfilled through our willingness to act.
Reflection and prayer aren't just for Sunday mornings—they are the fuel for spiritual growth and professional integrity.

Watch/Listen to the full breakdown: Catch the full episode where we explore the healing of the lame man and how you can apply these principles to your own career and ministry.

From the Dream to the Vision : Operationalizing Vision of Unity in our Community 🌳✨
https://youtu.be/WW_DhOoG1k8
I’m coming to you from the hallowed grounds of the Gloucester Institute—the very place where the United Negro College Fund was born and where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. penned portions of his "I have a dream" speech.

Standing here, I’m reminded that a dream is a powerful start, but it was never meant to be the finish line. To see human flourishing at scale, we must move beyond the inspiration of the foundation and begin to operationalize the vision.

In this week's Marketplace Minister Moment, I dive into Acts 2:42-47 to explore God’s "Big Idea." It’s a blueprint for a community that bridges the deepest divides of our world—transforming the ancient ideal of E Pluribus Unum (Out of many, one) from a motto into a marketplace reality.

How we move from the Dream to the Operationalized Vision:
Build on the Foundation: Honor the giants like Dr. King and Dr. Moton by treating their vision not as a monument to visit, but as a floor to build upon.

Operationalize the Vision: Values aren't static; they are active. We must embed dignity, respect, and character into our business systems, our meetings, and our leadership.

Unity Across the Divide: True unity isn't the absence of diversity—it is the presence of a shared purpose that brings "the many" together as "one" human family.

The Power of the Few: Transformation doesn't require a crowd. Whether you are in a boardroom, an airport, or a car, when two or three gather to live out these truths, you become a force for change.

The dream has been given. The foundation has been laid. Now, it’s our turn to build.
Let’s get to work. šŸš€

A dream without an operation is just a fantasy.

What is one practical way you are "operationalizing" unity or character in your business this week?
Let’s share our strategies in the comments and build something that lasts. šŸ‘‡

Maturity is sexy. Taking responsibility is magnetic.
Defensiveness is Destructive.

We often think of romance as grand gestures or date nights.
But in this latest episode of My Better Half, we uncovered a deeper truth:
Nothing kills a mood faster than an excuse.

Defensiveness is the silent killer of intimacy.
It creates an "impossible loop" where we fight to win the argument, often at the cost of losing our partner’s heart.

Real connection happens when we drop the shield.
We discussed how shifting from defensiveness to responsibility isn't just about conflict resolution—it’s about building a romantic, resilient bond.

Key takeaways from the conversation:
Winning isn't winning: Winning an argument doesn't matter if you lose the connection.

The power of the rewind: Stopping to say, "Let me try that again," changes everything.

Listen first: Be quick to listen and slow to speak to truly understand your partner.
Taking ownership diffuses conflict. It shows safety. And yes, it is incredibly attractive.
