LUFFA ✨

Something new I’m trying in the garden this year ☺️

This sponge gourd (known as luffa or loofah) is a tropical vine in the cucumber family (Cucurbitaceae) that produces a fibrous fruit. When young, the fruit is edible and used as a vegetable, similar to zucchini.

As it matures, the fruit dries, becoming a tough, fibrous structure that is harvested and processed to create natural sponges for bathing and cleaning 🧽🫧

Hopefully these continue to thrive & turn out to be similar to the picture on the right! Of course — I’ll be sharing + putting some at the stand if they do 🙂

My babies finally found the water today & they are so happy! 💙

Some of the females are close to laying age 🥚

Did you know duck eggs are:

• Higher in protein than chicken eggs, which can support muscle growth, repair, and satiety

• Richer in vitamins & minerals: they typically have more vitamin B12, iron, selenium, and folate.

• More omega-3 fatty acids, which are great for brain and heart health

• Richer flavor: slightly creamier and more decadent than chicken eggs

• Larger size: One duck egg can equal about 1.5 chicken eggs in recipes

+ some people with mild chicken egg sensitivities can tolerate duck eggs (though not always)
