The Ozzy Osbourne/Black Sabbath concert livestream was amazing beyond what words can give it credit! Love how every band covered a Sabbath or Ozzy song to pay tribute. And Tom Morello’s all-star jam group performance had some great highlights including (to my obvious delight) a 3 way drum battle between Chad Smith from Red Hot Chili Peppers, Travis Barker from Blink-182, and Danny Carey from Tool! Other highlights included Billy Corgan from Smashing Pumpkins singing Judas Priest’s “Breaking The Law” with founding guitarist KK Downing, former Ozzy backing musicians Rudy Sarzo and Jake E. Lee being part of the performance, Sammy Hagar singing Ozzy’s “Flying High Again”, and a surprise comeback performance by Steven Tyler after Aerosmith canceled its farewell tour due to Steven’s larynx troubles!

I’m so happy and thankful that Ozzy got this chance to not only play the final show in his solo career he was so determined and hopeful to have, but that he got to share it with his OG Sabbath bandmates Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward for a farewell performance by them as well in their hometown of Birmingham (England, not Alabama). They still got it! It’s great too they were supported by all the bands and artists they either grew up with or influenced as the forefathers of heavy metal! And I pray all four of them will have an easy time transitioning to life after the concert stage to spend time with their families. Particularly for Ozzy, I pray he’ll be able to continue to fight his Parkinson’s and that he’ll be able to record more new music now that he doesn’t have to play live anymore.

Other highlights from the other bands? Metallica’s whole set, just the whole thing (I loved “Battery” transitioning into “Master Of Puppets” so seamlessly)! Halestorm’s whole set too and Lzzy’s powerful voice! Pantera performing their version of Sabbath’s “Planet Caravan” during their set. Lamb Of God covering “Children Of The Grave.” Jack Black’s and Fred Durst’s pre-recorded renditions of “Mr. Crowley” and “Changes,” respectively. Guns N Roses did four Sabbath covers before launching into “Welcome To The Jungle” and “Paradise City.” Jason Momoa made a great MC and hype man for the concert!

Overall, concert was a total 11/10! All tribute concerts should be structured like this from this point forth!

Hey, why don’t I apply to be The Who’s next drummer? I know plenty of Keith’s classic parts, I got the energy, and I have enough youth and s***k that I can argue back at Roger if he thinks I’m too loud!😂

So thankful and blessed to have helped out these amazingly talented teens in the Royals group at RiverCity as an instructor on drums for their show playing the whole Ziggy Stardust album! They brought the house down, as this photo from the show will hopefully display!

Special thanks to Make Music Salem for sponsoring the show, The Historic Grand Theatre in Salem for hosting us, and the string players from the Salem Orchestra who helped play the string arrangements from the album for the show!

We love James Hetfield!

During a recent show in Brazil, singer James Hetfield served up a emotional moment with the crowd, speaking of his insecurities
"I've gotta tell you I wasn't feeling very good before I came out here. [I was] feeling a little bit insecure, like I'm an old guy, [I] can't play anymore — all this bu****it that I tell myself in my head," explained the singer. "So I talked to these guys, and they helped me — as simple as that. They gave me a hug and said, 'Hey, if you're struggling onstage, we've got your back.' And I tell you, it means the world to me."
After Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo left their respective places on the stage to join Hetfield in a group hug, the singer added, "And seeing you out there, I… I am not alone. I am not alone, and neither are you."
🖤
We love you James

The UK has set the ball in the court. Now, it’s America’s turn! Let’s get legislation like this to support local and independent venues and stop Live Nation from further putting barriers on getting into the live music industry.

The UK government has responded to calls for a strict deadline for their plans to introduce a new ticket levy which will support grassroots music venues.

Some sad news to share regarding our RHCP tribute.

A little bit of fun footage from RiverCity Rock Star Academy’s recent end of summer show in Salem, where I played with a faculty band on the Police classic, “Synchronicity II.” Stewart Copeland’s drumming has always been something extraordinary I wanted to replicate live and I’m so glad I had the opportunity to do so with this gig.Special thanks to my coworkers and bandmates Jarred, Jim, and Kristi for making this happen.

Man, the Foo Fighters absolutely KILLED it at the first concert in Providence Park since 2005! What an amazing live band full of unstoppable energy and charisma, no doubt in part thanks to new drummer Josh Freese’s rapid fire drumming and Dave Grohl’s absolute command over the audience. Unfortunately, because of our puppies and beating the crowd, we had to bounce early before “Everlong” and the fireworks finale.

But I would GLADLY go see Foo Fighters again in a heartbeat! I’m so happy this band has found new life after the tragic loss of Taylor Hawkins (we still miss and love you). Kudos to the Pretenders for an amazing opening set too! It’s impressive Chrissie Hynde sounds the same as she did 40 years ago! Here’s some of the choice photos from the show.
