On this day in 1988, the legendary Monsters of Rock tour kicked off with a powerhouse lineup featuring Van Halen, Scorpions, Dokken, Metallica, and Kingdom Come. I remember attending the show on June 5, 1988, at Tampa Stadium like it was yesterday; it was definitely in my top 5 of the best shows I've ever seen.
