Remembering two more legendary performers the music world lost recently.

We're in the psychedelic 60's today.

First, we salute JESSE COLIN YOUNG, vocalist/guitarist and founding member of folk rockers THE YOUNGBLOODS. He passed away 3/16 at the age of 83.

Next, we remember LARRY TAMBLYN, vocalist and founding member of garage rockers THE STANDELLS. He passed away 3/21 at the age of 82.

Original RCA and TOWER pressings...many in glorious MONO. The TOWER sides pressed in Scranton, PA.

We're all over the musical map today with three mini-tributes to some artists the music world recently lost.

First, it's 70's pop as we remember American vocalist ROBERT JOHN. He passed away 2/24 at the age of 79.

Next, it's early 70's soul as we salute FRIENDS OF DISTINCTION vocalist and founding member HARRY ELSTON. He passed away 3/4 at the age of 86.

Finally, actor RICHARD CHAMBERLAIN. Yeah, the guy made records and actually charted a couple in the early 60's. He passed away 3/29 at the age of 90.

Today is Marywood University's annual Giving Day! This year, VMFM 91.7 has a project that is part of the event. For decades the VMFM studios have been located in a basement, and more currently under ground. While we are grateful to have had a space for the past 50 years, we have a unique opportunity to change that and move our studios to the first floor of the Learning Commons, situated along the main drive of the University.

The newly renovated studio on the first floor of the Learning Commons will make VMFM 91.7 visible to the campus and community (and will also cut down on hearing "Marywood has a radio station?!".) It will also help us to better feature our station, our students and our Multimedia Communication programs to current and prospective students. And, the new space will be a small part of other exciting efforts that are underway to make our campus an even more vibrant place to study and work.

VMFM has been on the air for over 50 years bringing a vast array of programming focusing on indie and alternative college music and in December our very popular Christmas 91.7 programming. VMFM doesn't have sponsorships or on-air fundraisers. Aside from hearing about Giving Day today we plan on keeping it that way, but all the support we can get toward our goal would mean so much to all involved here!

As long as VMFM has been streaming online (since 2007?), Revolutionary Nurses and Home Care in Eynon has been there to keep it going! They just helped us renew for another year, so we are very grateful for their ongoing support!
