Harnett County Deputies were called to a home on Kentucky Derby Lane Lillington (Barbeque Community), for a possible shooting.
Units arrived to the home less than 5 minutes from dispatch.
Once at the home they began clearing the home and located 3 victims that had been shot along with a juvenile that was uninjured.
The suspect fled the scene before law enforcement arrived.
Sadly, 2 of the 3 that were shot have succumbed to their injuries.
Harnett County Sheriff's Office is currently conducting this investigation and as updates are released the information will be update.

Update 1: On 8-12-25 at 5:18 pm, the Harnett County 911 Center received a 911 call in reference to a possible assault at 19 Kentucky Derby Ln. Lillington, NC. Deputies arrived at the residence and located three victims inside the residence. Two victims are deceased and one victim was transported to a local hospital by emergency personnel. Investigators are actively working this investigation. The Harnett County Sheriff’s Office will provide more information as it becomes available.

The initial investigation has revealed the following information. These findings are based on what we have learned to this point and may change as the investigation progresses.
On 8-12-2025 at 5:18 pm, Harnett County 911 Center received a call from a 10 years old resident of 19 Kentucky Derby, Lillington. They stated that several of their family members had been shot. Deputies, Anderson Creek Emergency Services, Benhaven Emergency Services and Harnett EMS responded to the location. Deputies’ located two victims deceased, Danny Richards, age 57 and Sabrina Richards, age 54, and one victim conscious with injuries, Clara Richards, age 74. The 10 year old, who made the 911 call, was unharmed. Clara Richards was transported to Womack Army Hospital where she died from her injuries.
A 15 year old nephew of Mr. and Mrs. Richards was identified as a possible suspect but had left the scene on a vehicle. The vehicle was located in a wooded area near Hwy 87 and Nursery Road, Spring Lake in Harnett County. At approximately 11:00 P.M, the 15 year old was located in the wooded area and taken into custody.
The juvenile was charged on Juvenile Petitions with the following:
Two counts of First Degree Murder
One count of Attempted Murder
One count of Assault with Deadly Weapon with intent to Kill inflicting Serious Injury
(The last two charges were obtained before Clara Richards had passed, these charges will be upgraded to First Degree Murder)
The Juvenile is being held in a North Carolina Juvenile Detention Center.
