For Carl Brucher, it started with the glint of polished chrome at the fire station where his dad and uncle worked. That early fascination grew into a lifelong appreciation for cars and, eventually, YUK Custom Designs, his Durango-based concierge service built around the details that make a vehicle personal.

Today, Carl helps clients restore family heirlooms, source vintage vehicles, restyle interiors with custom leather and coordinate the details of vehicle ownership and upkeep. But at the heart of his work is something bigger: the belief that a car is rarely just transportation. It’s where road trips begin, where kids learn to drive and where countless everyday memories are made.

There’s no shortcut for learning an instrument, no app that teaches a young violinist to play in tune overnight. That’s exactly the point of the San Juan Symphony Youth Orchestra, which brings together nearly 100 students from 20 schools across the Four Corners for weekly rehearsals. Through their Bravo Buddies mentorship program, older students guide younger ones, building confidence that carries well past the concert hall.
