“Begin Where You Are,” is the first anthology of work from all 10 of Colorado’s poet laureates from 1919 until the present day, was released earlier this month. The project also features unpublished work from the late Andrea Gibson. The collection includes unpublished work from Joseph Hutchison, Bobby LeFebre, and Mary Crow (pictured above). Photos credit Brooks Svitak.

(Photo 1) All proceeds from the book will create an endowment that will support travel expenses for the next poet laureate.

(Photo 2) In 2023 Turner Wyatt, a Durango resident, realized Colorado lacked an anthology of all its poet laureates and helped compile the collection.

(Photo 3) Haley Kirkman, a Fort Lewis College alumni, designed the cover for the new poetry anthology.
