Has anyone else had an influx of meat bees this year? One bit a chunk out of our Border Collies nose and made her bleed. The traps we've set have been filling up in record time. After poor Olive's bloody attack that made her cry out, we took relish in seeing this praying mantis catch and eat one of these mean bastards.

Between my Native Voices group meetings at work discussing Indian fry bread and then watching Rip fry it up for Beth's breakfast, I threw my hat into the ring. I used to love eating this dish at The Silver Dollar Fair each year but after 2012, the Indian fry bread stand was gone. So tonight I figured out how to make it, which was surprisingly simple. My husband was wary but a good sport and after one bite, he asked me to make this again. Oh dang this was this tasty 🤤 . The ranch beef, homegrown tomatoes and peppers also helped. I do understand that this food was created out of necessity due to colonialism forced rationing but even my Natives group agrees, it's a darn tasty part of the dark side of our history.

Oh. Mah. Gawd, Becky! Look at her loaves. They are so big. Yep, Becky at Tozier's Livestock tried her hand at a "new" flavor of sourdough and it turned out amazing. After using her husband and in-laws as guinea pigs to ensure she perfected it, the Rosemary Roasted Garlic loaf will be for sale at the farm stand next weekend. A blend of fresh and dried rosemary were used to give more depth in flavor. The result is a slightly sweet floral note accentuated against a robust woody taste. 😙🤌 perfection❣️

Well we started selling sourdough bread before the farm stand was officially open and by 9:01, we sold out! While we sold all of the Guinea eggs and all of the large chicken eggs, we still have 9 dozen medium sized eggs for sale with a really nice price of only $3 a dozen. They are just slightly smaller due to being new layers but they are still delicious❣️ Text us for a gate pickup if you're interested. 530-518-8199

Tomorrow's farm stand is going to offer some really great things to buy. A new item has been added... fried green tomato kits! It includes a special dry batter mix, two eggs, green tomatoes and instructions. All you need to add is oil! We have a lot of eggs at various price points, sourdough bread, produce, seed packets and loofah sponges (both for body and kitchen). We hope to see you there from 9-11:30 at Coal Canyon Rd and Hwy 70 in beautiful Butte Valley!

🐐 🤎🤍🖤 Clover and Primrose walked over to grandpa and grandma's neighboring ranch to say hello while they were working cows. My sweet little goaties follow me around so well making them excellent hiking companions. As any good shepherd is, I'm armed and ready to fully protect them. I love that my in-laws took some pics of us as we wandered around.

Loofahs.... it turns out they don't come from the sea 🤷🏻‍♀️. We have loofah body sponges and my favorite, loofah kitchen sponges for sale. Our own personal kitchen sponge is on week 4, still going strong, cleans better than synthetic scrubbers and it has yet to suffer from that bacteria smell that synthetic sponges get. These are fully compostable once you're done with them ♻️ Want to grow your own beautiful vines? We also sell loofah seed packets. Look at the beauty these vines can add to your garden. 🤩 You can purchase these at our Saturday farm stand on Hwy 70 at the edge of the ranch.
