"Kate Redding appeared to have the ideal life of a sophomore girl at Duke. She was an inquisitive person and loved to learn about the world around her, whether it was through meeting new people or through her avid reading habits. She was incredibly outgoing and always found herself surrounded by a large group of people drawn to her natural presence.
This past Sunday night, she was settling into her usual spot on first-floor Perkins. It was shortly before midnight and all of her friends had just left, but Kate was excited to get to the book she’d been waiting all weekend to finish. Around midnight, a student working at Perkins walked by to restock a shelf and was shocked to find Kate’s body lying dead on the ground, with the book laying next to her. The book appeared to have some sort of poison in it.
The news quickly spread and the whole school has been in shock ever since. Kate having been one of the most well-liked people on campus, people are desperate to find the killer and make sure they do not strike again." - Mystery in the Stacks: A Library Party to Die For
