In June, the Durham Board of County Commissioners and Durham City Council approved their respective budgets for the coming fiscal year. The Chronicle broke down both budgets and the costs to taxpayers associated with them:

Duke men's basketball had another successful evening during the second round of this year's NBA draft. Former guards Sion James and Tyrese Proctor were selected 33rd and 49th by the Charlotte Hornets and Cleveland Cavaliers:
