Soccer.com and Adidas are bringing an Official World Cup Watch Party to Durham tomorrow, Friday, June 12, from 8–11 pm on the American To***co Campus lawn (300 Blackwell Street).

Durham County commissioners unanimously approved a $1.05 billion budget on Monday that includes a 2.5-cent property tax increase.

For a home valued at $400,000, the increase is expected to add about $100 per year in property taxes.

The budget also includes a $14.55 million funding increase for Durham Public Schools and a 2% cost-of-living raise for Durham County employees.

The new fiscal year runs from July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027.

If you don’t want Duke Energy to raise your rates again for the next two years: 2027 (+12%) and 2028 (+4%) —- take these two actions including the public hearing tomorrow, Wednesday night.

In 2025, Duke Energy already posted $5B in record profits — an increase of over $400 million from 2024.

The Carolina Hurricanes just announced Stanley Cup Final Watch Parties at Lenovo Center for both Home and Away Games 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6.

🌀 HOME GAMES 🌀

Screens will be set up on the South Plaza of Lenovo Center for fans who don’t have tickets to the game. The Watch Party for Game 1 will feature a pregame concert from Brothers Osborne at 5:30 pm. Food/drink options available for purchase. Outside food and beverages, chairs, weapons and illegal substances are not permitted. No ticket is required for the Hurricanes Watch party, but fans must pay for parking.

• G1: Tue, June 2, 8 pm — Vegas at Carolina
• G2: Thu, June 4, 8 pm — Vegas at Carolina

🌀 AWAY GAMES 🌀

Watch the games on the videoboard inside Lenovo Center. Selected discounted concession items will be available for purchase. Tickets to the away game Hurricanes Watch Parties are $10, with all proceeds benefiting the Carolina Hurricanes Foundation. Tickets can be purchased by the general public starting at 1:30 pm on Wednesday, and Season Ticket Members are eligible for a presale at 1:00 pm. Parking will be free.

HIT & RUN ALERT — Do you recognize the driver of this black Lexus with NC dealer plate #191044?

This morning, Sunday May 31, around 10:30 the driver was driving erratically south on NC-55 through the I-40 underpass before striking the rear corner of a bright blue Honda and leaving the scene.

Our contributor reported this to police, but have not yet been contacted to provide additional information or footage.

We encourage drivers to do the right thing and take responsibility.

The Carolina Hurricanes Stanley Cup Final frenzy is officially underway.

Tickets went on sale at 3 pm today, and nearly 50,000 fans found themselves in the queue hoping to score a seat.

If you missed out, be prepared to pay up. Resale prices are already soaring, with nosebleed seats for $2,000 and rinkside tickets approaching $12,000.
