When I began telling the story of Harlem in Havana, I knew this cultural reclamation was too bold, too rich, and too layered for a single sitting. By releasing “JIG SHOW | Leon Claxton’s Harlem in Havana” as a docuseries, I’m giving audiences time to sit with the legacy, absorb the brilliance, and pass it forward.

Each short episode invites viewers into a new chapter of resistance, glamour, and genius that mainstream history left out. The series format also allows educators, cultural workers, and everyday folks to use each episode as a tool—for teaching, sparking dialogue, or simply celebrating who we are.

I’ve made it free. I’ve made it accessible. I’ve made it unforgettable.

Why this series matters now—more than ever:

Because Black history is under attack. Stories like these—unfiltered, uncensored, and unapologetically Black—are needed to preserve what textbooks often erase.

Because cultural institutions and classrooms deserve more than trauma narratives. JIG SHOW is a story of joy, beauty, defiance, and excellence. It’s about what we built, not just what we survived.

Because young Black and Brown creatives deserve to see themselves in their full power. This series honors the showgirls, musicians, and producers who paved thee way.

Because independent Black storytelling is sacred. This ain't Hollywood. It’s legacy-funded, community-rooted, and artist-led.

Because visibility matters. Harlem in Havana shattered racial boundaries with sensuality, style, and showmanship. That legacy belongs on center stage—not in the margins.

Because we still need to be reminded of our brilliance. And that celebration should be as easy to access as a YouTube click.

This is for my grandfather Leon Claxton, my grandmother Shirley Bates and my aunts, my father and every Black and Cuban artist who dared to shine when the world said dim your light.

This is for the dreamers. The scholars. The dancers. The storytellers. And it’s streaming now—for the culture, for the ancestors, and for the future.

“UNWIND” by J. the Artist — A Grown, Soulful Exhale for the Culture.

In 2025, after a quiet hiatus and a bold reinvention, J. the Artist (a.k.a. JDA Prynce) returns with a mature glow-up and a vibe we all need: relaxation. His new single and video, “UNWIND,” directed by his partner Christian Rush, is a light, lush anthem dedicated to loving freely, living softly, and escaping the madness—if only for the weekend.

Gone are the days of “where could she be, the woman for me?” J. has stepped fully into his truth, delivering an honest and refreshing q***r love story that hits just right. Set to the backdrop of wine nights, Netflix binges, and easy laughter between two men, “UNWIND” isn’t just a love song—it’s a reminder to pause. To breathe. To feel good in your skin, your love, your rhythm.

Mr. Rozzi, a popular Greensboro rapper, slides in smooth as silk with bars that feel like late night conversations and two-step whispers. Together, the pair crafts a soundtrack for every hard worker, every dreamer trying to keep it together in a chaotic world. It's hip. It’s diverse. It’s Black boy joy with a splash of Pinot.

The visuals? Intimate and stylish. No gimmicks—just real chemistry, great lighting, and a killer outfit or two. It’s soft masculinity in motion. And in a world heavy with noise and nonsense, “UNWIND” is the grown-ass exhale we didn’t know we needed.

So yeah. Dress up. Pour something nice. Press play. Dance like nobody’s watching. J. the Artist is back, and he’s telling us all—it's time to UNWIND.
