Duke’s 102-62 win over Belmont gave the preseason discussion something more substantial than practice reports and a short Countdown scrimmage.

The Blue Devils controlled the glass 46-28, made Belmont work late into the shot clock and showed how Boumtje Boumtje and Patrick Ngongba II can create offense together—not simply occupy the paint.

“Just because a lineup worked last year doesn’t mean it’s going to work this year.”

Jon Scheyer isn’t rushing to settle Duke’s rotation. At ACC Tipoff, he said the lineup could continue changing well into the season as the Blue Devils learn which combinations work best.

The offense is still coming together, too—with an emphasis on keeping possessions moving when the first action breaks down.
