* Until 800 PM MDT.

* At 712 PM MDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from 8 miles west of Sweetwater Reservoir to 9 miles
northwest of McClave to near Las Animas, moving southeast at 25 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and half dollar size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

* Locations impacted include...
Lamar, Las Animas, Wiley, McClave, Hasty, Neegronda Reservoir, John Martin Reservoir, Fort Lyon, and Caddoa.

Arlington, or 26 miles north of La Junta, moving east at 30 mph.

The Bent County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating reports of an unconfirmed explosion in the City of Las Animas. At this time, there is no threat to the public.

During the course of this investigation, deputies made contact at a residence where they located an individual with multiple active warrants. The suspect attempted to hide under the residence. With the assistance of K9 Nuke, the suspect surrendered. The K9 handler, Corporal Garcia, as well as Deputy Nichols, arrested the individual without incident.

The investigation into the reported explosion remains ongoing. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
