At 352 PM MDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Sheridan Lake, or 24 miles south of Cheyenne Wells, moving northeast at 10 mph.

HAZARD...Ping pong ball size hail and 60 mph wind gusts.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...People and animals outdoors will be injured. Expect hail
damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles. Expect wind
damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

🚨 ARREST MADE IN CHILD EXPLOITATION CASE 🚨

On July 10, 2025, the Cheyenne County Sheriff’s Office conducted a felony traffic stop on East 3rd Street South in Cheyenne Wells. The stop was related to an active felony arrest warrant for Chad Rogers of Cheyenne Wells, wanted on 80 counts of possession of videos and 109 counts of possession of photographs involving the sexual exploitation of children.

Rogers was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Prowers County Jail where he is being held on no bond.

Please remember, all individuals are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

During the investigation, deputies uncovered evidence that there may be potential additional victims connected to this case. The Cheyenne County Sheriff’s Office urges anyone with information to come forward. If you have any information related to this case or need to report suspicious activity, please contact the Cheyenne County Sheriff’s Office at 719-767-5633.

A Note to Parents:
Now more than ever, it is vital to talk to your children about internet safety. Make sure they understand the importance of telling a trusted adult if someone ever makes them feel uncomfortable…whether that’s online or in person. Predators often use digital platforms to gain access to children, and open conversations at home are one of the best tools we have to protect them. If something doesn’t feel right, they should know they can speak up, and that they will be believed and supported.
